NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced today 15 new Site Development Grants, totaling more than $4.6 million.
The grants are designed to help communities achieve Select Tennessee site certification and prepare industrial sites for economic development projects. The funding helps communities invest in infrastructure and engineering improvements on project-ready sites.

Brooke Simmons attended the Delta Leadership Institute Session 3 in Jackson, Mississippi on June 7-11. The session theme was centered around the workforce. The class visited local community colleges and high schools to learn their best practices for workforce development in their communities.

The new Hampton Inn off of Highway 51 is currently under construction. The tentative opening date is May 2021. This hotel will have 75 rooms and is in a prime location near the new I-69 project.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the section of I-69 that runs alongside Discovery Park of America from a little northwest of the former Wingfoot Golf Course to Reelfoot Avenue was the first of three projects that encompass the I-69 loop around Union City. The section to the southwest down to US 51 was the second section. Both segments have been completed up to final grading which means they are ready for paving.Currently in the construction phase is the section a little northwest of the former Wingfoot Golf Course to US 45 and US 51 about halfway to Fulton, Ky.
