Obion County means educational opportunity. From early childhood through post-secondary and workforce training, residents benefit from quality schools, a business community that invests in student success, and a wide range of financial resources. Serving the community through two outstanding school systems, Obion County Schools and Union City Schools, students have access to highly qualified educators, modern facilities, and programs that prepare them for college and careers.
Both school systems consistently report competitive graduation rates, offer advanced coursework, dual enrollment, industry certifications, and career and technical education (CTE) pathways aligned with local workforce needs in manufacturing, healthcare, technology, and business. With a strong commitment to student achievement and employer engagement, Obion County is cultivating its next generation of talent right at home.

Union City Schools Foundation
The Union City Schools Foundation was established as an independent, community-based organization for the purpose of enhancing the educational experience of the students within the Union City School System. The cornerstone of the Foundation is the belief that our students represent the future and our efforts to promote educational excellence and innovation will pay great dividends. The established goal of the Foundation is to provide supplemental resources to the system schools in support of their mission of “preparing students to live, work, contribute and excel in an ever-changing environment.”
Post-Secondary Education
Education continues beyond high school due to facilities such as the University of Tennessee at Martin, Dyersburg State Community College, and Murray State University, all within an hour from Union City. Adults are also given the opportunity to increase their skills by taking courses at the Tennessee Technology Center or the Obion County Industrial Training and Education Center.
