Westan Insurance Group in Union City has added a new agent to their team, Cody Martin. Cody is a native of Weakley County but has resided in Obion County for several years. He is a 2006 graduate of South Fulton High School and a 2014 graduate of John A. Gupton College with a degree in mortuary science. Cody started his career in Obion County as a mortician for a local funeral home in Union City. Upon a request from the Westan Group.

The Obion County Public Library has been serving the area since the late 1930's. The collection was originally housed in the court house and has moved three times since then and is now located at 1221 E. Reelfoot Ave. The library averages over 2,000 patron visits a week and also contains the largest public library collection in West Tennessee outside of Jackson and Memphis. The mission of the Obion County Public Library is to enrich and improve the lives of the citizens of Obion County by providing them with a wide range of meaningful library materials and quality experiences.

In May of 1971, Woodrow Hardesty moved from Blytheville, Arkansas with his wife, Doris, and children, Rhonda, Debbie, and Woody, to Union City. After 25 years as a superintendent for Myers Bakers, he hoped that working with his brother installing carpet for Wade's Furniture and Moser and Jones Furniture stores would provide a stable standard of living for himself and his family.

WCMT-AM 1410 was the first radio station to begin broadcasting in Weakley County on June 1957. WCMT's call letters stand for "Weakley County, Martin, Tennessee" and was solely owned by Jones T. Sudbury of Blytheville, Arkansas. The property was purchased from Cliff and Virginia Weldon on highway 45 North which would later become known as North Lindell Street in Martin.
