The historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Union City was built in 1927 and appears on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building was eventually acquired and renovated by Masquerade Theatre, a local theatre group, and became a performing arts venue. The group presents six productions a year, complete with 42 performances. Past productions include The Wizard of Oz, CATS, Grease, Oklahoma, Oliver, Dearly Beloved, The Sound of Music, Annie, and Steel Magnolias.
