The year was 1954 when T.J. Easterwood, a graduate of Union City High school, first developed and marketed an even weigh and bagging device that the world knows as the "Waymatic".
This company's story starts with the son of a sharecropper that hitched a ride on a freight train from Tennessee to Chicago as a 14 year old seeking employment. This type of determination would go a long ways in the founder's life as he applied his willpower to care for his family. In 1940, John Bailey Simrell and his brother-in-law toiled over a way to create enough steam to commercially shape and block hats quickly and easily. The birth of the Jiffy Model J-1 resulted from those efforts as well as dozens of models to follow over the decades. When Mr. John added a hose and steam head attachment, the product morphed into a fabric steamer that removed wrinkles from clothing, draperies and other materials.

My job is to not only introduce what the Guard has to offer to highly motivated individuals, but it also consists of being the face of the National Guard within the community and heading up any projects, partnerships, and events that the National Guard can potentially help with and be part of.

AmeriClear Rx was founded in 2010 by a group of Union City businessmen who recognized the need for more fiduciary responsibility when providing company employees with pharmacy benefits. The end result has been an average reduction in pharmacy expenditures by 10-15% for the AmeriClear Rx Book of Business during the last five years. The national overall drug trend spend has increased 27.4% during that same time frame.

Obion County's partnering organization for TN Promise needs nearly 50 volunteer mentors locally to work with seniors in the Class of 2016. So far, about 30 have signed up, and almost 20 more are needed.
Dr. Jerry Sullivan started practicing dentistry in 1970 in Union City TN. In 2006 his son, Dr. Gabe Sullivan joined him and the practice became Sullivan Dentistry. Comparing to when the doors first opened there is no mistake that this practice has grown tremendously.
