Company: Gibson Electric Membership Corporation
What is the history of your business? Gibson EMC is a rural electric cooperative, formed in 1936 to provide electricity to its members. In 2016 we merged with Hickman-Fulton Counties RECC, adding 4 western KY counties to the 8 West TN counties already being served. We currently have about 110 employees serving close to 39,000 business and residential members located along 3,500 miles of electric line. In 2017 we formed a wholly-owned subsidiary, Gibson Connect, to provide high-speed internet, TV programming and phone services.
What services/products do you offer? We provide electric and broadband programs and services.
What made you join the chamber? Cooperative Principle #7: Concern for Community. Cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities.
