Under the leadership of Mayor Bennie McGuire and Margaret Prater, Vice President for Workforce Development for the Northwest TN Workforce Board, Obion County achieved certification as an ACT® Work Ready Community (WRC) in the fall of 2015, and was recognized at the at the 2016 ACT® Workforce Symposium in Nashville, TN. ACT WRC is a workforce system designed to assist sites and regions in developing their workforce pipeline to provide skilled workers for employers.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City was one of 844 hospitals to receive an A, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
