"NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced today that 13 communities will receive more than $5 million in Site Development Grant funding.

The Site Development Grant program is part of the larger Rural Economic Opportunity Act supported by the Tennessee General Assembly for the last three years....

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 4, 2019) — AgLaunch and the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center are again partnering for a week-long agri-tech bootcamp to support Tennessee agriculture startup teams. The bootcamp will be held on the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture campus in Knoxville from July 8-12, 2019. Teams accepted into the program will experience best-in-class agricultural entrepreneurship programming and have access to investors, mentors, and farmers.

The Tennessee General Assembly has overwhelmingly approved a measure that preserves and promotes Reelfoot Lake's Tennessee Heritage.

House Bill 1067 designates Reelfoot Lake as the state's first Tennessee Heritage Site. This designation is based upon the lake's geological history, natural resources, and other unique characteristics.

Under this initiative, state departments and agencies can use the Tennessee Heritage Site designation for purposes of publications, advertising, marketing, and other communications.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — While the world's watching Jordan Peele's newest creation, "Us," from behind splayed fingers and popcorn boxes this weekend, MTSU junior and Union City native Phillip Mayberry will be savoring the feeling of seeing his own art in one of the film's trailers.

Mayberry, a graphic design major who now lives in Nashville, was one of thousands of fans around the world who answered an ongoing challenge, via Chocolate City Comics, Instagram and Universal Studios, to create artwork inspired by the new horror movie.

NASHVILLE – Leadership Tennessee, the state’s preeminent leadership organization, will lead “Vote Tennessee,” a statewide effort to increase voter registration and education.

“Vote Tennessee” began as Project Register, a nonpartisan initiative launched in 2017 by U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tennessee) and State Sen. Steve Dickerson (R-Nashville) to boost voter registration in Middle Tennessee.

Committed to collaborative, nonpartisan dialogue, Leadership Tennessee is a natural fit to take this project across all three Grand Divisions as Tennessee ranks 45 th in the country in voter registration and 49 th in voter turnout.

Rather than being satisfied with a well-earned lofty status, Union City High School students are reaching and attaining even higher heights.

Seniors at UCHS already surpassed last year’s graduating class in ACT composite scores, currently posting a 22.63, which is an improvement on the 2017-18 class record of 22.4 that ranked seventh in all of Tennessee and first among rural West Tennessee school districts. “I’m so excited about the great work going on at K through 12 in Union City Schools,” UC Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said. “I’m super pumped for (UCHS principal) Jacob Cross and his faculty for an incredible job.
