The USDA Rural Development (RD) office located in Union City, TN serves a large (9) County Area in Northwest Tennessee. These counties include: Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley. With such a large service area, the local Chambers of Commerce for each area are our lifeline to each community.
The Obion County Chamber specifically is very beneficial to our office. With Union City being one of the larger cities in our service area, there often seems to be more activity going on with economic development, community programs, and homeownership needs than in other areas. The Chamber does an excellent job at contacting or referring our office for potential clients and projects. Most of the employees in our office have a "first name basis" relationship with both Lindsay and Katie.
USDA RD also benefits greatly from several of the outreach opportunities that the Chamber provides. Whether it be the monthly "Business Matters" sessions or the quarterly "Mayors Meetings", our staff is always invited and when able to attend receive substantial information, project leads, and networking opportunities.
USDA RD is committed to the future of rural communities. Our role is to increase rural residents' economic opportunities and improve the quality of life. Our employees live and work in or near the communities in which we serve, which increases effectiveness and helps our customers.
