Students Get Training for Interviews

Students in Lindsay Walker’s eighth-grade computer applications class at UC Middle School had the opportunity to question local business leaders Friday.

The sessions wound up a week in which representatives of Center Point Business Solutions and Lindsay Frilling, chief executive officer of the Obion County Chamber of Commerce, held soft skills training for job interviews for students.

A $15,000 ThreeStar community grant – the collaboration of UC Director of Student Services Michael Paul Miller, Mrs. Frilling and Obion County Schools Career and Technical Education Director George Leake – made the workshop sessions possible.

Businesses represented at the question-and-answer session today included Kim Watts - Chief Operating Officer Center Point Business Solutions; Lindsay Frilling - CEO Obion County Joint Economic Development; Donnie Johnson - Owner and Operator Johnson Heating and Air; Skipper Bondurant - CEO and Administrator Baptist Hospital; Laura Tidwell- HR Manager Williams Sausage; and Adam Ragan - Insurance Agent, Farm Bureau.

The training in Walker’s classes this week has focused generally on the dos and don’ts of job interviews and how to better ensure good results and the best chances of landing work.
