Brooke Coffey recently graduated from the TBEDC. The Tennessee Basic Economic Development Course (TBEDC) was delivered via Zoom August 23-27 to a record 53 participants. TBEDC is considered the flagship course of the Tennessee Certified Economic Developer (TCED) Program.

The Union City Elementary School PTO was the recipient of a generous deed and donation from Allen’s Paint and Supply recently. Owners Bucky and Stephanie Allen, whose daughter, Olivia, is a kindergarten student at UCES, presented a $500 check to Principal David Byars to pass on to the school support organization.

Interstate Batteries is now open at 1213 South First Street in Union City. On Friday, November 20th, Interstate Batteries has a Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Event. It is always exciting to welcome new business to Obion County!

Baptist Memorial Hospital Staff were recognized on Tuesday, November 17th with a ceremonial ribbon-tying and drive-thru event. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital and staff have been a blessing for the community.

The path to Elijah Cavalier’s academic prowess may be easily family-traced. He’s proudly taking his own steps on that journey, though.

Cavalier – a Union City High School senior – has been named as a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist after scoring in the top 1 percent of more than 1.5 million students nationwide to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). He and other academically talented high school seniors across the county who made the semifinal list are now in competition for more than 76,000 scholarships worth more than $31 million in the 65th annual program.
