In 2020, Obion County used CARES Act funding to promote a "Happy Healthy Holiday" in northwest Tennessee. This funding was given to tourism organizations throughout the state of Tennessee. During this year's 2-day Blizzard conference hosted by Hospitality TN, one of the sessions was focused on CARES funding and how organizations across the state used this funding to better promote their area during Q4.

I had the privilege of visiting the Promethean Foundation and speaking with the wonderful people who make everything happen! The very first thing I noticed as we began talking was that they have a strong passion for what they do.

This foundation has a group of people behind it that care deeply about quality education for all children in Obion County. (Pictured is Promethean Foundation being presented a chamber membership plaque)

Union City, Tenn. – Discovery Park of America has named Sue Ellen Morris as the 2020 Volunteer of the Year. Morris, an attorney from Hickman County, Ky., began volunteering in early 2020 at Discovery Park, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that depends on volunteers to implement its mission in a variety of ways.

Today I was able to visit the beautiful Reelfoot Lake, nestled in northwest Tennessee. With a rich history and tradition, the lake draws tourists every year to experience hunting, fishing, festivals, and eagle spotting. To get the full lake experience, my friends from Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council and Reelfoot Lake State Park took me on an eagle tour around the lake! You are almost guaranteed to spot a number of beautiful birds when exploring the area (We saw 27 on our tour!).

On January 19, the Chamber of Commerce was able to give a donation of Obion County masks to Jiffy Steamer. These masks will be distributed to employees to ensure safety as the Covid-19 pandemic continues.
