Keith Hamilton spoke with Lindsay Frilling (left), chief executive officer of the Obion County Joint Economic Development Council, and Obion County Central High School guidance counselor Heather Kendall about the mechatronics program at Motlow College and Middle Tennessee State University at the weekly Union City Rotary Club meeting on Friday. Hamilton is using over 30 years of experience in workforce development to prepare Tennesseans for careers in the quickly expanding field of mechatronics, a hybrid science of mechanics and electronics that many modern industries are pursuing for the future.

Thank you for participating in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25th! Area shoppers had a blast looking for the perfect holiday gifts and the large turnout made the event a resounding success for local businesses.

This month we heard from our Membership Director Lauren Tanner as she updated attendees on the latest news from the Obion County Chamber of Commerce and Joint Economic Development Council! Afterwards, she opened the floor for discussion about what other initiatives the Chamber can be taking to improve on its service for our members and for Obion County.

What a wonderful night! On November 2nd, 2017 over 300 community members came out to celebrate our local businesses and individuals that help make Obion County thrive! We've had a prosperous year and look forward to another year of growth and success. Thank you for all that you do to make Obion County a great place to live, work, and play!

UNION CITY, Tenn. – Simmons Bank announced the promotion of Matthew Bird to the position of Union City community executive today. Bird previously served the bank as vice president and commercial loan officer. A lifelong resident of west Tennessee, Bird has seven years of experience in retail and commercial banking with Simmons Bank. “Matthew is passionate about his work and helping businesses achieve their financial goals,” said Tony Gregory, Tennessee regional chairman for Simmons Bank. “We are confident his experience and knowledge will serve him well as community executive.”

Bird graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business management from Lambuth University in Jackson. He is a graduate of both the Southeastern School of Advanced Commercial Lending and the Southeastern School of Banking.

As always, appointments may be made to see long-time practitioners Dr. John Bates and Stephanie Woodall. With the recent addition of pediatrician Dr. Dustin Parker and pediatric nurse practitioner Kayla Yates, however, walk-in visits are now welcome, as well.

Parker, a Newbern native, completed his pediatric training at Lebonheur Children’s Hospital before joining the clinic a few months ago. Yates, an Obion County native who completed her training at Union University, joined the Pediatric Place staff at the beginning of October. This followed several years of serving patients at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
